Short Poetry A

Opening 29 Mar 2026, 16:00

29 Mar –

10 May 2026

Observing human behavior in a social context gives rise to works in which sensitivity and empathy are made tangible. At Van Abbehuis, Karin Eliza van Pinxteren exhibits concrete poetry from 2017 onwards: the year in which she gave these works the overarching name ‘Short Poetry A (attention)’.

The works are created during the state of ‘being on the move’, in which thoughts, observations, and situations are written down. Existential questions and meaningful actions of people around the world are recognized and come together in Short Poetry A. The results are never staged; they are authentic events. Within Short Poetry A, the words or sentences largely determine what the work looks like. This is something over which the artist assesses no direct control; words come as they do. By being addressed through language in the works, personal space for reflection is created for the observer.
