Specials at the Event

The Rest Factory offers alternative resting experiences to help navigate the world we live in through sound-healing performances. Known for creating participatory experiences, Chen-Yu guides the audience to build trust, experiment with new ways of rooting in a city, and re-read the world together.
In Van Abbehuis, Chen-Yu focuses on the concept of “Re-Root”, exploring how to rest and find balance between work and life in Eindhoven—a city where she spent six years studying, working, falling in love, and falling out of love. Through the lens of queer female diasporic subjectivity, the performance shapes a unique place using personal objects, experimentation, and a sense of collectiveness. It gently sends invitation to rest, connect and explore what it means to root in a new city.

Chen-Yu Wang

Taiwanese designer, artist, researcher, sound healer and factory girl, Chen-Yu Wang graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2022. In these different roles, Wang translates Eastern and Western ways of thinking, written information in Mandarin and English, the implicit between material and immaterial and the dialogue between us and the other. Wang wants to break through the silence of the important but invisible voices of capitalism. She expresses her reflections through the medium of textiles, sculptures, drawings, performances, installations and spaces.
