Karin van Dam focuses on searching and finding, which for her is synonymous with discovering and collecting materials. “The fluffy ball, the hanging thread. Sometimes they are stored within my field of vision as possible building blocks.”

In the sketch phase, Karin van Dam uses both found objects and drawings. Her drawings and sculptures function as temporary condensations within an ongoing process; they stand on their own, yet at the same time carry the potential to grow into installations. Her work is constantly in motion. Each object is a continuation of earlier work and forms a bridge to what comes next.
