In her textile work, Hemaseh Manawi Rad evokes feelings and situations that, once recognized, were actually already there all along. Texture and material function as a form of inscription, becoming diary fragments without linear narrative, in which migration, exile, and return appear in constant movements of loss and reconfiguration. Within this, stories of her family, childhood memories, and traditions are closely interwoven.

The “domesticated” becomes not a reduction, but a site of negotiation. Her approach resonates with traditions in which cultural meaning emerges in the interstices between origin and dispersion. At the same time, she undermines the hierarchy between art and craft: refinement and excess coexist as aesthetic strategies that elude modernist purity.
