“I began exploring this environment as if, during a work period abroad, I were encountering this area for the first time. I started walking around the area near my home (Eindhoven) and studio (Valkenswaard). This rekindled my interest in my homeland and strengthened the urge for a painterly and project-based investigation into my own birthplace”.

Ingrid Simons (1976) graduated in 1999 from the Academy of Art and Design in ’s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. She is primarily a painter working with oil on canvas, but she also works in lithography, screen printing, photopolymer printing, and ceramics, and occasionally engages in short film and performance.
