In part 57 (fake fruit factory), artist collective it is part of an ensemble explores new ways to bundle, activate and distribute collective work. Starting from an extensive archive of drawings, prints, sketches and other work on paper that has been created since 2019, the collective works during their Zomerhuis residency at the Van Abbemuseum on a series of experimental artist books in which existing and new material come together. In the exhibition space, the collective creates a temporary assembly line where the books are assembled and bound, while visitors can follow the process up close. The publications serve as living archives that can be continuously adapted, shared and reactivated in future projects. The collective also wishes to explore alternative forms of distribution with this project: some books may be exchanged or given away, while others are deliberately distributed outside the art world.

The collective explores how collaboration, collectivity and shared authorship can take shape beyond fixed roles, hierarchies and identities. From a practice of improvisation, exchange and mutual influence, performances, films, publications, exhibitions and other temporary constellations emerge. Central is the idea of the ensemble: a multi-voiced community in which differences, contradictions and diverging perspectives are not smoothed over, but instead made productive.
